WTB Brings Turbo Blower Technology to Bangladesh

WTB Brings Turbo Blower Technology to Bangladesh

We are excited to announce a milestone partnership that directly addresses one of the biggest operational cost challenges facing Bangladeshi manufacturers today: the energy consumed by aeration systems in Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs).

Aeration is not a minor line item. For any biological wastewater treatment system, it accounts for 40% to 70% of a plant's total electricity consumption. As industrial tariffs in Bangladesh now range between 10 and 12.39 BDT per kWh, with further increases anticipated, the blower technology you choose has a direct and measurable impact on your bottom line.

Who is RAETTS?

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Dongguan, Guangdong, China, RAETTS Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. is recognised globally as a pioneer in air suspension and magnetic levitation (maglev) compressor technology. The company holds the distinction of being the first in the world to master both air-foil bearing and maglev bearing technologies at a commercial scale, earning designation as a National High-Tech Enterprise in China.

RAETTS products are deployed across municipal wastewater plants, textile factories, cement facilities, and power stations in over 30 countries, spanning Europe, Southeast Asia, Russia, and the Americas. Their blower range covers 7.5 kW to 450 kW, serving everything from compact industrial ETPs to large municipal treatment works.

The technology shift: what makes turbo blowers different?

The traditional three-lobe Roots blower has been the standard aeration workhorse for decades. It is familiar, affordable to purchase, and straightforward to understand. But it is fundamentally inefficient, achieving only around 60% overall system efficiency with the rest lost as heat, vibration, and mechanical friction. It also requires constant lubrication, belt or gear drive maintenance, and delivers pulsating airflow that stresses diffusers.

RAETTS turbo blowers work on an entirely different principle. A precision impeller spinning at up to 50,000 RPM compresses air internally through isentropic compression, a more thermodynamically efficient process. The shaft is supported by either air-foil bearings (a cushion of pressurised air) or electromagnetic levitation, meaning zero physical contact, zero oil, zero friction.

The numbers: energy and cost savings that compound

For a standard industrial ETP running a 110 kW Roots blower 24 hours a day, the equivalent RAETTS turbo blower operates at just 75 kW, saving approximately 306,600 kWh every year. At current Bangladesh tariffs, that is over 30 lakh BDT in annual energy savings from a single blower.

When modelled over a 10-year lifecycle, factoring in the higher initial cost of the turbo blower, annual energy at a conservative 5% tariff escalation rate, and maintenance, the cumulative savings reach approximately 4.58 Crore BDT per blower, with the investment breaking even before the end of Year 2.

Near-zero maintenance: the hidden advantage

The financial case goes beyond electricity bills. Because RAETTS turbo blowers have no oil, no gears, no belts, and no contact between rotating and stationary components, they require virtually no scheduled maintenance beyond periodic air filter cleaning. There is no oil to change, no bearings to replace on a cycle, and no mechanical failure mode that causes sudden treatment shutdowns.

What WTB now offers

As the exclusive Bangladesh partner for RAETTS, Water Technology BD provides the full stack: equipment supply, site-specific energy auditing and financial modelling, installation, commissioning, SCADA integration with dissolved oxygen (DO) control, and ongoing technical support. Our commercial range spans the compact Konrad portable air bearing blower (7.5–22 kW) for smaller ETPs and aquaculture, through to full-scale maglev turbo blowers (22–450 kW) for large industrial and municipal plants.

Whether your facility currently runs Roots blowers, lobe blowers, or centrifugal units, we can assess the upgrade path and build a transparent financial model based on your actual operating data, with no obligation.
